Growing up in Northern Ireland with eczema, and siblings who had it too, Rhys knows how much it helps to have people who understand.
I'm Rhys, a final-year medical student at King's College London, and I have lived with eczema my whole life. I grew up in a small town in Northern Ireland, alongside siblings who had it too, so I learned early how much support and connection matter, and how often people with eczema go without them.
Seeing eczema from both sides, as a patient and as a medical student, showed me how much of living with it happens between appointments, with no one to talk to. That is why I founded The Eczema Circle, and now chair it.
Alongside my studies, I lead our sessions in London with Francis, making sure every session is a safe space where people can speak openly. Our sessions are peer support, not medical advice. I am not a doctor, and I am there as a facilitator.
My hope is to see The Eczema Circle grow beyond London, so no one has to face eczema alone, or with only their equally itchy family.
